Rob and I were going for a walk tonight when a car came by us and rolled down the window. It was Jane and Doug Fitzgibbon, friends of ours who used to live down the road. Jane and I were really close when the kids were young but lost touch when they moved back to Ontario in 1985. My God, that was 18 years ago! It was wonderful to see them if only for a few minutes. There are a few people that you meet in life that you know, if they had continued to live close by you would have been great friends forever. Most friendships can't weather the miles. Sad thing. Iguess the good thing is that there are friendships that do pass the test of time. I live for those.
